A proper mum's cake — grandma's tin, Antalya air and a 1970s mixer optional. No "diet cake" pretensions: 16 slices, and one slice with a milky coffee is exactly right. What matters is portion control.

Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- ¾ cup sugar (brown or coconut sugar work too)
- 1 cup yogurt
- ½ cup olive or hazelnut oil
- 2 packets (20 g) baking powder — two matters
- 25 g cacao or carob powder
- 2 cups wholewheat flour, sifted
- 50 g dark chocolate, chopped small
- 1 çay bardağı (about 70 g) hazelnuts, roughly crushed
Method
- Beat the sugar and eggs thoroughly.
- Add the oil and yogurt; keep beating.
- Fold in the baking powder, cacao and sifted flour.
- Stir through (or scatter over) the chocolate and hazelnuts.
- Pour into a greased tin and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 30–35 minutes.
